SJD Emblems

At the International Academy Of San Jieh Dao (IASJD), we utilize two emblems. We believe that it is important for a student of San Jieh Dao to know and understand the meaning, definition and the background of our emblems, due to the fact that they symbolically represent, who we are, what we believe, what we think and what we teach. The two emblems that we have registered, copy righted and designated to represent our academy and art contain all of the necessary tri-fold elements that we cover within our SJD Curriculum. The following emblem is now part of our International Academy of San Jieh Dao's Trademark.

IASJD Logo

And the next second emblem represents our martial arts system of San Jieh Dao.

SJD Logo

When we disjoin this emblem, we note that in the middle there is the small circle, with the description, "BAHRAM KHOZAIRY, FOUNDER OF SAN JIEH DAO". This is to signify the nucleus, and the founder of the entire system of San Jieh Dao. SJD is Sifu Bahram Khozairy's personal Tri-Fold martial art, which is based on the Biblical Apologetics and Theology, relating to life and combat. The circle is also the nucleus of the SJD's Open-System, which encompasses the physical and conceptual aspect of the art.

In the next break down, we notice the big background circle. It represents San Jieh Dao at its totality. San Jieh Dao, the art that is founded and developed by Sifu Khozairy, is our complete and all encompassing martial arts system. The San Jieh Dao's entire Tri-Fold system, which is the Spiritual, (Mental and Physical system) of the combative SJD, is depicted here. The term "system" here, only applies to the physical and the mental, but not the spiritual fold of SJD. The term "combative" identifies SJD as not a closed-system of katas and forms, but a dynamic and comprehensive system of combat, which is well balanced in TRUTH and in elements. However, it is systematic, which means in some ways it contains boundaries, but allows the subjective freedom and movements within its objective boundaries and limitations. The title San Jieh Dao is transcribed in Chinese as well as Persian languages.

Chinese: San (three), Jieh (fold or section), Dao (way, method), together "Three Fold Way", or "Tri - Fold Art."
Persian: Honaar (art), Sehh (three), Ganeh (fold), together "Three Fold Art", or "Tri - Fold Art."

Now, the system of San Jieh Dao also consists of the Liberated Jeet Kune Do - Jun Fan Gung Fu. This means, that the Bruce Lee's philosophical and new age martial art of JKD - Jun Fan Gung Fu has been freed and liberated, within Sifu Khozairy's SJD, & JKD - Jun Fan arts have been refined and liberated within the SJD sphere, and as a result, fused in with the rest of the Sifu Khozairy's personal composite Tri-Fold elements. In summary, SJD is not the same as the pre-liberated JKD - Jun Fan Gung Fu, and those so called JKD elements are No Longer considered Jeet Kune Do - Jun Fan Gung Fu elements, within the SJD system.

In general, San Jieh Dao, embodies: Liberated Jeet Kune Do - Jun Fan Gung Fu.

The Refined and Liberated (RL) elements that have been extracted and situated within SJD's open-system, includes ALL and every one of the reformed elements from various martial arts styles and system, that are fitted within our SJD system and curriculum. These elements take their origin from the closed-systems of:

(Note: The following are only a general outline)

CHINESE BOXING:
elements from:
Chinese Wing Chun,
Chinese Tai Chi (yang style),
Chinese Hung Gar,
Chinese Shao Lin,
Chinese Chin Na,
Northern Chinese Kicking,
Southern Chinese Kicking,
Northern Chinese Boxing,
Southern Chinese Boxing,
Chinese Grappling,
Chinese Weaponries,
Thailand Muay Thai Kickboxing,
Indonesian Pentjak Silat Kickboxing,
French Le Savate Foot Fighting,
Filipino Kali, Escrima and Arnis:
elements from:
(Abanico, Redondo, Numerado, Villabrille, LaCoste, Doce Pares,
Largo Mano, Sumbrada, Serada, Panentukan, Sikaran, Dumog)
Japanese Judo,
Japanese Jiu-Jitsu,
Japanese Shoot Wrestling,
Western Fencing,
Western Boxing,
Western Ballat,
Western Catchascatchcan Wrestling,
Western Grappling.

Now, we must understand that in SJD, we do not distinguish the origin of one element from another, due to the fact that those elements that have been extracted and liberated as a result of the San Jieh Dao's TTLP, from the mentioned closed-systems, (styles), have lost their traditional position and identity, and are no longer considered a traditional element, from a traditional style, but rather, considered as SJD Elements (RL - Refined and Liberated).

The SJD elements cover the entire Kicking, Boxing, Trapping & Grappling aspects of our system.

Because of years of research and refinement by Sifu Bahram Khozairy, Combative art and science of San Jieh Dao is identified as a complete, pure, healthy, godly, well balanced, and well rounded martial art system, which contains the necessary and needed ingredients in order to educate and equip martial artists, physically, mentally and spiritually in the TRUTH.

Now, SJD's open-system is identified as such, due to the fact that in some ways it is expandable and shrinkable, and because it encompasses both objective as well as subjective elements, it is both absolute as well as relative. However, the ultimate Truth is objective and absolute, and all that are relative and subjective must adhere and conform to the limitations and the boundaries of the absolute and objective circumference. Thus, this circle is a complete depiction of Combative Art and Science of San Jieh Dao, which among many others, includes:

SJD Kicking,
SJD Boxing,
SJD Trapping,
SJD Grappling,
SJD Wrestling,
SJD Foot Works,
SJD Leads,
SJD Entries,
SJD Exits,
SJD Principles,
SJD Concepts,
SJD Philosophies,
SJD Weaponries,
SJD Locks,
SJD Holds,
SJD Takedowns,
SJD Submissions,
SJD Ranges,
SJD Combative,
SJD Art,
SJD Science,
SJD Apologetics,
SJD Spiritual,
SJD Mental,
SJD Physical.

We must remember that All of elements have been refined, transformed and liberated so as to loose their traditional functionality, in order to gain the SJD's practical simplicity for the purpose of being utilized in practical applications, in regard to combat. Thus, it is only sufficient for us to understand that San Jieh Dao, encompasses ALL of the RL elements from the mentioned closed-systems or styles, and therefore, we can rest assure our eclectic and comprehensive combative art and science of San Jieh Dao is complete by itself, since it suffers no lacks. We must also never forget, that this great circle also encompasses the concepts & philosophies that have formed the whole art of San Jieh Dao. These are important and extremely vital philosophies (such as SJD's TTLP) that have allowed the elements to be Transformed and Liberated, hence the term RL Elements. For example, without the SJD's TTLP (and the entire SJD's philosophical spectrum), the elements could not have been refined, transformed and finally liberated.

It resembles a cuisine recipe. What makes the recipe a very tasty and magnificent dish, is not so much the carrots, celery, mushrooms and the meats, but the spices, the cooking temperatures and all of the other ingredients that make up a recipe, apart from the food elements themselves. Thus, SJD philosophies, bring together all of the combative tools and elements, refine them, reform them, and may even fuse them at the final stage, in order to accomplish the purpose.

Finally, in the next break down, we notice the four arrows and the four Chinese combination writings within the parameters of those arrows. These represent the total four (and only four) ranges that exist in combat. All of the four ranges (long, medium, short, in-ground) are covered within our San Jieh Dao's combative system. The arrows represents the harmony and the fluidity of the ranges, and relates every range to another.

The bottom writing represent the long or kicking range,
the top writing represents the medium or boxing range,
the left writing represents the close or trapping range,
and the right writing represents the in-ground or grappling/wrestling range of our combative system.

Thus, the direction and the position of the ranges resemble the Figure Four ( 4 ), which again represents the SJD's four ranges of combat.

To conclude, both our IASJD logo, and our San Jieh Dao logo offer a complete portrayal of our Tri - Fold martial art and organization.
